This was a learning experience for me.
I am pleasantly surprised with how easy it was.
First ebooks, now physical books.
Apple made the ebook publishing process incredibly simple for the upload of my ebook and the book was approved for sale before my Tax ID is even approved. (Still waiting on that.)
Did you know that you can just publish directly from the Pages app built into every mac, and sell what you have written?
Amazing.
Kindle was also fairly easy, and once I fixed a few formatting issues so my book could re-flow and thus be available to more devices and a larger audience, it was ready to go live within 3 days. They only rejected twice before I got it right.
Physical books are another animal entirely.
I had to submit my softcover 9 times before they finally accepted it.
Even though the Previewer showed NO errors and everything looked fine.
Always something simple — first they wanted me to change the pagination and get rid of any AI-image gibberish text that cant be read — ok, done. Edited.
I made Crypto Bot Trading Card images, based on Magic the Gathering, and some of them came out like this:

Eventually I got Amazon to accept the image above and others like it, after explaining over and over that I am using SOME AI generated images and there is no avoiding this.
Then they wanted me to make sure all text cleared at least 0.4" from the edge guides. ok, done. Edited. (Kinda weird, as I thought the guides themselves were the mark to follow, but apparently there is a secret mark 0.4" inside of that. LOL.)
Then they needed me sharpen/crisp make any screenshot text from my crypto trading apps — which I did.
Then I needed to change my pagination….. again.
Finally, this morning, I checked and my book was live!
Good times.
Thank you to everyone here on Medium who has given me feedback and encouraged me along the way!
I want to create a hardcover too, I’m just not sure anyone is going to pay $29 for it, which is what I would have to charge on it because they make it pretty expensive. However, I am a book collector, so everything on my shelf must be a hardcover. I know there are others out there who probably feel the same way.
If I do the cheap option with black and white graphics/no color, I can offer the hardcover for less. But if I do full color, it must be the premium stock paper glossy in order to be available in every market. That ends up being $29, with me getting about $2 from every sale. Eeeek.
Should I?
What are your thoughts?
Thank you for reading!
Until next time….
Onward and Upward Everybody!
