A New Experiment Begins
Last March I created two automated YouTube channels with AI, Freaky Fun Facts, and Can of Worms. Unfortunately, neither one were able to build momentum and become “viral”. I spent about 90 days on each and realized they were going nowhere at all, so I dropped them.
I was using Kapwing, doing as little editing as possible, just generating with AI and pushing to YouTube.
The videos weren’t very good, to be honest.
I look back on it and of course, with Kapwing, you get a great outline to start editing, but really need to edit and make a production of the video in order for it to be a success. I am trying to accomplish two things at once, and Kapwing just was not the right tool.
I want automation, and viral potential.

I have learned a few things in the time since.
It was a mistake making longer-format videos in TV orientation and not making vertically formatted shorts, especially when the AI generated content is mostly fit for sound-bytes and memorable factoids rather than full length formats. These kind of channels are best for wasting a few minutes at the bus stop, or between classes. Multiply that times thousands of millions of people, and boom, recipe for monetization consuming smaller bits of attention.
YouTube rates you based on Play-through, so having a video that is 10 minutes long tends to have a much lower chance of playback duration ratio being good enough for YouTube to promote the content.
This is where shorts come in.
Being 60 seconds or less, shorts are much MORE likely to be watched in their entirety, or at least a greater percentage of their total length, meaning if you pump out hundreds of shorts, the likelihood of at least some of your content going viral becomes much greater.
My primary goal here is NOT to have a successful YouTube channel <by any means>. If I wanted to do that, I’d find a scriptwriter, an editor, and put together a team, then turn it into a full-time job.
Yet at the same time, I don’t just want to put out boring derivative content with no soul to it.
No, what I am trying to accomplish here, as with all things on Automated Income Lifestyle— is a LIFESTYLE tailored automation — to the point where whatever I am going can be done without demanding hours of my attention every week.
Probably best to stick to short form for now, because fully automated content is not likely to be Oscar worthy, but it can be NOVEL, and still provide value. People love to consume interesting novel new perspectives, or twists on things they are familiar with.
I think I found the video solution I am looking for.
Enter, AutoShorts

Autoshorts is as simple as it can get.
First, connect your YouTube and/or TikTok account.

Next, Select Your Topic / Style

Each of these Topics is essentially a prompt to create a video on that particular topic.
This is where the magic happens.
You can select a pre-made topic/subject and let the videos roll with that, but you might find the output repetitive and generic, I know I did. I ended up creating a custom prompt for my videos that would carve out a more unique way of presenting them.
How did I do that?
I asked another AI tool that I use frequently.
I asked ChatGPT 4o, the newest version, to create prompts for me that would make less repetitive videos.

It was outputting a formatted script, including character titles and screenplay instructions, which is not exactly what I needed, so I made sure to include a little bit of negative prompting at the end, which gave me the output I wanted.

There, that’s better.
Now it’s just telling the story.
Perfect for a YouTube shorts script-generator.
Next, select the voiceover voice that you want to use.

You can even upload a 60 second audio file of your own voice, and the AI will clone your very own voice!

Note : I don’t really need voice cloning on this particular video series, but I really want it bad for my primary YouTube channel. Too bad I cannot clone my voice for anything but these shorts here.
Still……I think I have a neat idea to promote Automated Income Lifestyle here using a voice clone.
Idea : create another video series just for Automated Income Lifestyle, and tell creative stories about AI taking over the planet, for fun, just to see if I can get more subscribers with a little variety and fun.
Come to think of it, I bet you can use something like that creatively for your business too!
Sprinkle in some creativity and enthusiasm, and boom! Instant Creative Novel Marketing.
Next up, select your graphic Art style.

This video generator generates AI graphics for your video, so you can be sure that nothing is stock, or licensed, so you don’t bump into possible Copyright claims like you may with Kapwing, or other generators that pull stock content for your videos. Everything in AutoShorts is fresh and new, no re-used content.
Last, select your language, duration, and set your schedule.

I created a brand new YouTube channel for this purpose, The Whataburglar.
I created my logo and background using Ideogram.ai, which is superior for creating graphics with text.
My first video is scheduled to publish on my new YouTube channel today (Saturday) at 10PM PST.
Here is the video that was generated :
Then again on Monday, and Friday.
I am going to load 3 shorts per week for the first month, then upgrade my account and start posting one short per day.
Wish me luck!
I’ll report regular updates to keep everyone updated on progress.
Goal 1 : Auto-publish for 1 month
Goal 2 : Get at least 1k views on videos
Goal 3 : Get at least 1000 subscribers in 90 days
Goal 4 : Get monetized in 90–120 days
Goal 5 : Earn $500 month, hands-free, within 6 months
